Product Overview

The Mac n Cheese V2 was the first Mac-11 to use a last-round bolt hold-open, and now with V3, we incorporate swapable magwells that each have either a bolt catch or a last-round bolt catch.

The Mac n Cheese V3 features a sideplate that classifies as the firearm (pending ATF determination) and accommodates all the major components, including the Tailcap/Recoil Lug, Trigger Housing, Magazine Well, and Upper Receiver.

ATF Definition of a "Frame or Receiver"

Under 27 CFR § 478.12 (2022 Final Rule update):

“Frame or receiver. That part of a firearm that provides housing or a structure for the primary component designed to block or seal the breech (bolt, breechblock, or equivalent) and one or more components of the fire control system (hammer, striker, sear, or equivalent), and that part is usually threaded to receive the barrel or houses the bolt or breechblock.”

What That Means in Plain English:

The ATF looks for one primary part that:

  1. Houses the bolt/breechblock OR

  2. Houses the fire control group (trigger, hammer, sear, striker)

  3. Is the structural core that other parts attach to

  4. Often is threaded or designed to mount the barrel

This is the part that gets the serial number and is legally considered the firearm itself.
